	HappenStance Press A Scottish poetry pamphlet imprint, and publisher of the poetry chapbook review magazine, 'Sphinx'. Pamphlets and magazine available to order online.
	Snakeskin An engaging monthly online poetry magazine publishing good modern poets including Helena Nelson and Alison Brackenbury.
	The Plough Prize An annual poetry competition run by The Plough Arts Centre in Devon. Critiques are offered for a small fee, and all poets who make it to the long or short lists are notified.
	Poems in the Waiting Room Poems in the Waiting Room (PitWR) is a registered charity that supplies short collections of poems for patients to read while waiting to see their doctor. The Editor welcomes submissions - see website for further details.
	The Poetry Jukebox Thirty poets reading their own poems - from Benjamin Zephaniah to Brian Patten, Kamau Brathwiate to Michael Rosen. This site is a must for poets and poetry lovers.
	The Bridport Prize The Bridport Prize is an annual international creative writing competition for poetry and short stories. The closing date for entries, which may either be sent by post or online, is 30th June. The Bridport Prize is one of the top prizes of its kind in terms of both prestige and prize money. It has been the first step in the careers of many established poets and novelists. Prize money totals £14,000, with a first prize of £5,000 for both short stories and poetry.

	Gill McEvoy Gill has recently had her first booklet of poetry, Uncertain Days, published by Happenstance Press. She was nominated for the Forward Prize for Best Single Poem, 2006.
	Matt Merritt's blog Poetry, music, history, birds - this site's got it all (apart from iambic hexameter).

	World Wide Words This site is a Aladdin's cave for anyone who loves words; as well as articles on various aspects of the language, there are book and CD reviews; definitions of words that are so new that they haven't yet made it into the dictionaries; 'Weird Words' - a section devoted to words that refer to obscure or outlandish subjects, are in themselves rare, or which look odd; a question and answer section, and a free email newsletter.
	Word up An interesting site for writers, offering loads of information including: details of writers' groups and literary festivals, articles on various writing genres and links to other writing-based sites.
	The Write Coach One to one coaching and workshops to build confidence, increase motivation, release blocks, increase creativity and assist writers to become more successful. Also free ezine, competition to win free coaching and free introductory consultation available.
