Mentoring

Mentoring is a longer-term and more flexible alternative to individual critiques, and allows for the submission and re-submission of work without word length restrictions. If you are working on a collection or poetry or a long work of prose fiction or non-fiction, mentoring could offer the ongoing support you need to get your project finished.

Mentoring is offered in five-hour blocks. You can use your mentoring time to gain feedback on work in progress, to get help with developing your writing skills or to ask for general information and advice. We will keep track of the time we spend working with and for you, and keep you informed about how much time you have left. If your mentoring time runs out before your project is finished, you can simply purchase another block.

Mentoring hours must be used within twelve months of purchase, but within that time frame you can work at your own pace. Bear in mind, though, that at busy times we may not be able to respond as quickly as we'd like. It may take us up to fourteen days to respond to very lengthy submissions. Where there are delays longer than two weeks, your expiry period will be extended by the length of the delay.

Each five-hour mentoring block costs £90, and blocks can be purchased from the Word Doctors download and payment centre either singly or in batches. Word Doctors electronic gift vouchers are also available, and can be redeemed against mentoring time.

Five-hour mentoring blocks - valid for twelve months: £90
